I am struggling to find a way to use the can keypad as the start/stop for my engine.
currently all i do is use the start button on the keypad to trigger the starter which and then using a can input from the ecu to show rpm so the starter won't run if it see's rpm, the other things like ecu and injectors etc. are turned on with another button on the keypad, the coils turn on once it see's rpm,
what I'm currently having to do to shut the engine down is either turn off the ecu or kill power to the entire car to shut the engine off,
my knowledge on using counters is next to nill,
what i would like to do is use the start button to start and stop the engine while the ecu stays live,
if anyone can share some information on how they have done this that would be great.
Thanks.
so for clarification do you have your coils driven by the g4+ or a separate controller?
One idea would be to put it on the Link forum as there possibly is a work-around. The lads know everything their ecu's can do thy gave helped me out loads. https://forums.linkecu.com/forum/16-g4/
using a link g4+ ecu, yeah there is the a starter control function in the link, but i the issue i have is that the g4+ being an older ecu does not allow for the can di to be a selection, the option i have is wiring a digital input to a aux channel and using the can di to to trigger the aux channel to start the starting sequence,
to stop the starter from engaging, i have used
AND
can input (engine rpm) <0
i think
what engine ecu are you using, as some like Link and Haltech have a dedicated input for the stop/Start. But all you have to do is if the engine rpm is 0< and button is pressed then kill the inj & coils
Can I ask you what statement your using to keep the starter from not engaging while the motor is running?
