Hi all,
Have a strange issue going on
for context I am using an ecumaster battery isolator between the PDM and the battery with the engine kill wire from the isolator feeding the 12v ign in on the PDM (when the isolator is used to disconnect the main lead, it also switches the 12v ign to GND to turn off the PDM iirc), and using a syvecs S7+ ecu to send commands to the PDM via Canbus
the issue i am having is that when i power the car up with the isolator nothing from the PDM works - UNTIL I turn the key and turn the starter motor. doesnt matter how long for but this "seems" to cause the PDM to wake up.
For now im just hitting that starter to wake the car up before i do anything.
I had thought it might be ecu related or can bus related as at the time it was the fuel pump prime not working, but i now have some outputs set to "always on" (on if TRUE and TRUE) when the PDM is alive and they aren't powering up until i hit the starter.....
any help appreciated
Hi,
Apologies, only got back from the in-laws last night
Have checked and there is the battery voltage supplied to the pin when the isolator is powered up (13.2v), and 0v when the isolator is shut down. I have double checked that on initial power up the pin goes to 13.2v and it does
The pdm did not turn anything on until I "blipped" the starter motor
Hi, Any update on this?
Can you check the PDM ignition input definitely has 12V when you expect it to? This powers the PDM internal Elelectronics so the PDM won't function if it doesn't have a steady 12V
I'm so sad about you.
Quick sketch over a xmas eve beer
It's a relocated battery to the boot and the pdm and isolator are in the main power cable back to the front where it connects back to the oem loom in the oem battery position
Ecu is a plug and play kit with a 350z specific patch harness
Ecumaster isolator "out" goes to oem location and to the pdm, kill signal from the isolator sends vbat when on and is wired to ign switch on the pdm (as mentioned before but I guess detail never hurts)
The ecumaster adu 5 12v switch signal is set to always on (if true and true in config) so should power up as soon as the isolator does
Isolator powers on by disconnecting the power save wire from ground (nor drawn)
On first power up the ignition and ecu etc all power up (on the key turn after power on) but nothing connected to pdm does.
After cranking the engine the pdm powered items then become live
What confuses me is that the pdm and isolator don't know when that crank happens but either the pdm or the 12v switch power from the isolator powers up on that crank
The isolator also has a blue flashing light for canbus error until the crank which I assume is caused by the pdm as if it was the ecu I'd expect the non canbus driven outputs to still function. Them not functioning either is pointing me to the pdm.
Hi, can you do a wiring diagram showing how the PDM, isolator, key, starter motor etc is wired in.
