Hi all. I've just ordered a PDM (PDM25+) and trying to work out how to wire everything.
My current sticking point is the battery isolator (the car must comply to MSUK regs). I use a high current relay (Gigavac) as the isolator and this has a second pair of low current terminals. My concern is there's no way of dumping any alternator power if the isolator is operated when the engine is running, especially at high speed (this is not something I tend to do unless it's an emergency). I'm concerned that this could have an effect on the PDM. My wiring sketch is below. Thanks. Wyn
you could wire in a 70 amp relay on the alternator circuit that is normally open when the ignition is on and goes normally closed when ignition is off and dumps the alternator load to ground through a 3k ohm resistor this will give you alternator protection.
