counter memory

does anyone know if their is a way for the pdm to hold the count of a counter after it has been powered down. for example, i have a loop around counter for an electric ebrake. 0 is disable ebrake, 2 is nothing 3 is apply and 4 is keep button light on. 2 and 4 are holders after a set time or current limit is reached. my issue I'm having is if i apply the ebrake it will hold the button light on and ebrake on. but if i cycle the ignition off and back on the ebrake stay active because with ignition on it cycles the counter to 2 which is an empty holder. but in order to get the light to come on stating the ebrake is still applied you must press the button again and it will move counter to 3 run ebrake calipers and the…

USB connection

Hi folks

My camper van has a PDM 15 controlling the electronics which run from the leisure battery. (Internal lights, electric pump on the sink, fridge etc)

The leisure battery failed recently, so i had it replaced. It is now working, but there's no power to anything.

The blockage seems to be the PDM. I've connected to the PDM via the USB, and managed to establish a connection, to try and diagnose the fault. I seemed to be getting somewhere, but then i must have unplugged the USB it at the wrong time, because now the computer says "the USB device has malfunctioned" (or similar error) and when I look on device manager, it has a warning sign associated with that USB port.

When I try to connect the PDM, sometimes it works, and sometimes it seems to work, and then says "device unplugged" almost immediately.

I've restarted my computer,…

also make sure when your battery was replaced the connections to the pdm were hooked back up. if you get a multimeter test between the main power and ground wire going to the pdm and make sure it reads battery voltage.

PDM 28 breaking starters.

I’m triggering the starter solenoid from one of the 4 high current outputs. It sounded a little odd and quickly broke a starter. After installing another starter I video’d it in action and you could see playing back in slow motion it was oscillating rapidly. The only workaround I’ve found temporary is to set minimum on time to .2 sec but this is not ideal, as it causes the starter to hang on once the motor fires. What am I doing wrong? It’s a race car, 16v lithium battery.

v1.1.6 Sensor Calibration

Hi,

PDM15 (v1 I believe) with v1.1.6 SW with a Rife analog temp sensor connected to an input. How do you get Sensor Calibration tables to work? I have it configured but it always outputs 0. I tried fudging it with a 2D table which did work, which makes me think it's a bug in v1.1.6?

Thanks

Simon

Question for my safety planning

Hi all,

I'm using a PDM25 as the central control and logic unit in an EV conversion — it drives the HV contactors and passes on shutdown commands from a separate BMS via CAN. Mine is the earlier revision (it came with the PDM 15/25 manual, not the newer 15/25/35 one), so I'd like to confirm a few behaviours against the right hardware before I finalise the safety design.

Three questions:

  1. If the processor hangs or locks up while the unit is still powered, what happens to the outputs — do they hold their last commanded state, or switch off? I'm trying to work out whether a locked-up PDM could leave an output (and therefore a contactor) energised.

  2. Is there any internal watchdog or fail-safe that switches the outputs off if the processor stops running normally? Or would I need to add an external heartbeat for that?

  3. Can the PDM's…

ECU output shutting off

Hey everyone, I am having an interesting issue. My ECU keeps randomly restarting. I have included a video of the issue. The HS Status on the output goes to 4 which is not listed in the manual anywhere, and the output does not show tripped. I have already replaced the entire engine harness to the ECU. Does this seem like a PDM issue or the ECU itself? Any input would be greatly appreciated!

I took the car out and it shut off again. Interestingly it looks like it took out the whole can bus network because the keypad cycled and would not reconnect. Everything else in the car remained functional. I turned the key off which is wired to C3 to turn on the PDM and still nothing. The only way I was able to everything back working was to shut the main power off and let it sit for 30 seconds.

PDM25 V2 to Emtron keypad

Hello everyone, someone has a Emtron keypad (grayhill 8) working with the pdm? I would like the hardwire pdm to control it, not the emtron, I try with ID 900,901,902 that is what I could find on the Emtron information but never show up as connected. Any input would be appreciated.

ended up controlling the keypad with the emtron, and using the dbc files from emtron (one have the keypad on it).
